  • My crazy husband turns 27 on Tuesday. To celebrate, we invited our friends over for Brian's Beatnik Birthday, which was completely his idea. We dressed in all black with berets, served wine and cheese, and told everyone to bring a few poems to read. We brought out bongo drums and lit a bunch of candles to set the mood (which the flash completely ruins in the pictures). We set up a stool with a spotlight for our stage and drew names for who would read first. Some people went with traditional poets - Longfellow, e.e.cummings, Whitman, Shel Silverstein - and several people read the lyrics to pop music - Lady Gaga and others. We even had a few inappropriate limericks about a man from Nantucket...
Even some of our reluctant friends got into it. *Snap*Snap*
And the Beatnik himself really enjoyed his time in the spotlight (note the beard is still here for a few more weeks...can't remember what he looks like without it)!
And we also broke out our hookah for the first time since Brian got back from Egypt.
The Dukes had some of the best outfits. Love Jonathan's hat and rose-colored glasses!
