The band, known for such '70s hits as "Godzilla," "Burnin' For You" and of course, "Don't Fear the Reaper," will perform March 5 at Crocodile Rock Cafe in Allentown.
Tickets cost $18.
Blue Oyster Cult received a second wind of fame in the late '90s thanks to "Saturday Night Live" skit that featured the band recording "Don't Fear the Reaper" as part of a fictional "Behind the Music" episode.
But it's not the song, but Will Ferrell's antics as he attempts to record the cowbell track, with producer Bruce Dickinson ("Yes, the Bruce Dickinson") urging Ferrell to "explore the space" as he demands more cowbell ("I've got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell").
Unfortunately, NBC won't let us paste the original clip. Instead, here is a clip of Ferrell playing cowbell with Green Day during the band's performance of "East Jesus Nowhere," along with a vintage clip of Blue Oyster Cult rocking "Don't Fear the Reaper" in concert.
Enjoy.
